Positive News for Event Organisers: Events will potentially be allowed as of July 1st

Organisers of concerts, festivals, sports competitions and congresses can start planning their events again after July 1, Dutch government said. If events have to be cancelled due to corona measures, the organisers will receive a cancellation subsidy from the government. "It is a positive signal that from 1 July the industry can at least start organizing events in their original form again," says Jolanda Jansen of the Alliance of Event Builders.

State Secretary Keijzer of Economic Affairs: "Not only the organizers, but the public also yearns for a concert, a festival, a football match. Hopefully we can all enjoy an event again in the summer."

The organisations receive 80% of the costs back as a gift. The remainder of the amount is paid out as a loan. 385 million euros has been reserved for the scheme that applies to events until December 31st, 2021. Due to the corona crisis and the measures in force, most events could not take place in 2020. The cancellation costs were in many cases covered by cancellation insurance. Insurers have now removed this option from their cancellation policies.

Culture Minister Van Engelshoven: "In my conversations with representatives of the festival industry, it became clear that they need perspective to be able to start organizing. This arrangement offers them that certainty."

Hopefully we can provide our automated video/ photo technology at events again soon!
